A

- 99% water w/some salts, vit. C, antibodies, dermicidin, lactic acid, and urea

- Confined to axillary and anogenital areas
- Longer than eccrine glands, ducts empty into hair follicles
- Odorless until broken-down
- Activated during puberty (hormones)
- Emotion/Stress response

- Secretion of sebum is stimulated by hormones (androgens)
- Activated by both sexes during puberty

- Active inflammation of the sebaceous glands accompanied by “pimples”
- Is caused by bacterial infection of staphylococcus which can lead to bacterial infection
