Confirm protocol ( or med Direction) and confirm patient 6 rights, Route, Patient, Dose, Date, Documentation

Explain procedure , side effects, and if patient is allergic to medication

Select the appropriate medication

Inspect the packaging for sterility, expiration date, color, and clarity as applicable

Max subqutaneaus injection of volume is no more than 1ml

Prepare the neccesary equiptment , .5-1” length, 24- 26 ga

Draw medication from vial or glass ampule (shake down) and purge air from the syringe

Prepare the site with alcohol or iodine wipe to disinfect using overlapping concentric circles

Pinch a 1” fold of skin and insert needle at 45* angle into subcutaneous tissue bevel up
