Indications
Any patient that requires ventilation assistance affecting rate or depth
Contraindications
None
Procedure 1
Standard precautions
Procedure 2
Manually opens the airway using a technique appropriate to the patients condition
Procedure 3
Check mouth for potential airway obstructions (blood, fbao, dentures, etc)
Procedure 4
Suction and or removes any potential airway obstructions
Procedure 5
Properly inserts appropriate airway adjunct when time allows.
Procedure 6
Select the appropriate size bag and mask combination.
Procedure 7
Connect BVM to O2 source set at rate of 15l min
Procedure 8
Apply mask’s apex with bridge of patients nose and base between lip and chin
Procedure 9
Achieves proper mask seal using approved method
Procedure 10
Compress bag smoothly delivering adequate volume at proper rate.
Procedure 11
Release the bag to allow for full re-inflation
Procedure 12
Observe chest rise and fall and evaluate compliance
Procedure 13
Successfully ventilate mannequin 10 times at proper rate
