Define Dormancy
Lower body temp and go into inactive sleep. Different levels of dormancy.

Define Lethargy
Light state of dormancy where animal is easily roused. Body temperature dosent drop as much as it would in hibernation. Heart rate slows.

Deep sleep where body temperature and heart rate decrease. animals wake every few days to eat and defecate.
Black Bears do what in winter.
Go into Torpor with low heart rates, and dropped but still high temperature and are woken up easily to be responsive to danger.

What is a bears nest?
when bears create big tangles of branches when eating a bunch of food before winter.
Hibernation
long term dormancy in which heat, respiratory and metabolic rates drop very low and body temp drops below 10 degrees C.
Define a true hibernator and state the two true hibernators.
