What are the two main bodily functions of the pancreas?
exocrine gland and endocrine gland
What does the exocrine glandular tissue in the pancreas do?
releases three digestive enzymes out of the pancreatic duct into the duodenum (small intestine)

Which two hormones does the endocrine glandular tissue of the pancreas produce?
glucagon and insulin
What is the pancreas’ endocrine tissue called?
islets of langerhans
Which hormone do the beta cells secrete and which do the alpha cells secrete?
beta - insulin
alpha - glucagon
Which cells are stained blue and which are pink on a light micrograph cross section of pancreatic tissue?
beta is blue and alpha is pink
