Blood, Tissue Fluid And Lymph Flashcards
What does plasma carry?
Glucose, amino acids, large plasma proteins, mineral ions, hormones
What does the blood transport?
Oxygen to respiring cells, CO2 from cells, nitrogenous waste, hormones, food molecules, platelets, components of the immune response
At arteriole end where is highest pressure?
Inside capillaries, so water moves out
How is tissue fluid created?
Fluid is squeezed out the capillaries through fenestrations due to the hydrostatic pressure being higher than the oncotic pressure.
What is the role of tissue fluid?
to give oxygen and nutrients to cells and also to take away waste
What is lymph?
fluid that hasn’t returned to the blood and enters the lymphatic system where it contains lots of lymphocytes to help fight disease.
