What is a stem cell?

They are:
undifferentiated
Pluripotent (can become any type of specialised cell)
Can express all genes
Can divide to produce more stem cells and may differentiate

Adult stem cells in developed tissue

- Roots and shoots types, cambium of vascular bundles
- Thin walls do they can divide
- No chloroplasts
- No large vacuole
- Can divide by mitosis and differentiate
