Statistics Flashcards
Speed test vs power test
ST - Result is dependent on time; low item difficulty
PT - time limited; steeply graded difficulty; may include items that are too difficult
Contingency Coefficient
Measure of correlation between two variables with each going into two or more variables
In Chi-squared, Spearman’s and parametric tests, to be significant the observed value should be ____ to the critical table value.
Greater than or equal
One tailed test
Used for a directional hypothesis (more, greater, slower, positive, negative, etc.)
Two tailed test
Use for non-directional hypothesis; suggests that there is a relation but does not say in which direction
Chi squared
Goodness of fit test that determines if sample data matches a population.
Test of association; used when data is nominal and expressed as frequencies
Frequencies re-recorded on a contingency table
Degree of freedom
Number of boxes with data in them in the contingency table
Df = (no. of row - 1) x (no. of columns - 1)
Contingency table
Aka crosstabs or two-way tables; used to summarize the relationship between several categorical variables.
A special type of frequency distribution table, where two variables are shown simultaneously.
Standard error
Standard deviation of a distribution of sample means
