What is communication / Public Health standard 1?
Preparing the Treatment area.
What is the Standard for Preparing the Treatment area?
Sheets and blankets that come in contact with the client must be removed and washed.
Only fresh linin may be used on clients.
Linin to be used will provide full coverage of the client.
What is included in safety of preparing the treatment area?
Make sure linin / pillows don’t interfere with a clients ability to get on and off of the table.
Any obstacle / substance that could be in the way or make the floor slippery is removed.
What is Communication / Public health standard 2?
Inform the client of fees and obtain Their agreement to fee scheduling.
What is involved in the standard for informing clients of Fees and Fee scheduling?
Ensure Fee schedule is available to see.
Explain to the client that apart of the Fees include doing the assessment / intake before treatment.
Explain cancelations policy to clients.
Provide client with opportunity for asking questions.
What is Communication / Public Health standard 3?
Wash your hands / any skin surface that will / has come in contact with the client.
When do you use Standard 3?
This is before / after your skin comes in contact with the client.

Interview the client to obtain their Treatment goals.
What is the standard for obtaining the clients Treatment goals? (Technical)
Interview questions should include: Client's goals for treatment, Limitations of daily life, Identify area(s) client would like to focus on, Discovery of contributing factors.
What is the standard for obtaining the clients Treatment Goals? (Interpersonal)
Give the client opportunity to inform you of any specific area(s) to be treated and relay any info the client chooses about their treatment goals.
Give the client the opportunity to ask questions.
When would you obtain the client’s treatment goals?
Before the treatment begins or any time during the treatment.

Risk identification and management for an Outbreak of infection disease.
What is the Task for Standard 5?
interview the client for their risk of exposure to an infectious disease.
What is Communication / Public health Standard 6?
Obtain, update and record the client’s Health history.
What is the Standard for Communication / Public health standard 6? (Interpersonal)
Inform the client of the need to inform you of any changes in their health.
Let the client know why a Accurate health history is required for a massage.
Provide the client with opportunity to ask questions to better understand the health history form.
Inform the client their information is confidential & written authorization will be needed prior to release of info.

What is required in regards to timing of the Communication / Public health standard 6?
Before initial treatments,
After a client has been absent for at least 1 year since last visit,
Every year at a minimum.
What is the Communication / Public health standard 7?
Consent.
What are some safety precautions in relation to Standard 6?
Ask about any allergies / sensitivities the client may have to hydro, added lubricants or oils.
Make sure you are aware / take precautions of any Ci’s the client may have.
What are the conditions of Standard 7?
Given that the assessment / reassessment or treatment is ready to begin.
For standard 7, what is the Technical quality / standard?
Consent must be obtained voluntarily,
Consent must not be obtained through fraud.
For standard 7, what is the Interpersonal quality / standard?
The client must be told the nature and purpose of the assessment / reassessment and or treatment, including the areas of the body to be involved.
Inform the client may stop the assessment / treatment at any time,
Tell the client that you be checking in with them from time to time during the treatment,
Provide the client with time to ask questions.
What is involved in the Timing of Standard 7 (Consent)?
Before starting the assessment / reassessment and or treatment,
So that you record informed consent in the client’s clinical record as soon as possible within 24 hours of treatment.
