What is “Neuropraxia”?

A

A contusion of a Nn which does not result in degeneration.

The Nn recovers function without treatment in a few days to a few weeks.

What is “Axonotmesis”?

A

An injury in which the Nn fibers distal to the injury site degeneration but the internal structures of the Nn remain intact.
No surgical treatment is required.
Recovery generally occurs within 6 months.
