Stage 2

A

Negative consequences;

  • Psychological; Negative mood, stress, shame/disgust. Increases obsessive behaviours and amount of rules. Causes problems w concentration and eventually emotional numbness and body avoidance
  • Social: Lying, losing friends, afraid to go out, avoidance. isolation, conflicts

Physical consequences

A

Underweight

Lanugo (donshaar)

Poor blood circulation (acrocyanosis)

Erythema ab igne (hot water bottle)

Russell’s sign on hands

Teeth erosion

Swelling of parotid/submandibular glands

Invisible physical consequences

A

Hypoglycemia; low blood sugar

Heart problems

Lack of growth in children (not reversible)

Amenorrhea (can lead to infertility)

Osteoporosis
