Spinal disorders Flashcards
What part of the vertebrae is affected in spondylolysis/spondylolisthesis
the pars interarticularis
What is spondylolisis
Fracture of the pars
What is spondylolysthesis?
anterior or posterior slippage of one vertebrae on another following pars fractures.
What are the grades of spondylolisthesis based on?
Amount of slippage (grade 1=25%, grade 4=100%)
What positions should be avoided with a spondylolis/thesis patient
extension, SB toward, Rot away
What test differneitates stenosis from clauidication
bicycle test (Gelderen’s)
What three factors contribute to posterior disc herniation being more common
Posterior disc narrower in height
PLL not as strong or broad as ALL
Annulus thinner posteriorly
What position should you put a patient in for positional traction
S/L on opposite side with pillow under trunk, hips flexed, rotated up
