What is speed?
Time taken to cover a set distance (m/sec).
How do you work out speed?
Distance divided by time taken.
What are the 3 types of speed?
-accelerative.
-pure.
-endurance.
What is accelerative speed?
Sprints up to 30m.
What is pure speed?
Sprints up to 60m.
What is speed endurance?
Sprints with short recovery in between.
What is hollow sprints?
Completing a series of sprints seperated by hollow period of jogging or walking
What would a hollow sprints training session look like?
10 cones at 20m. Sprint 20m then jog 20m then so on.
Complete 8 sets of intensity is to great change jog to walk.
What are the advantages of hollow sprints?
-no specialist equipment required.
-easy to complete.
-can be sport specific.
What are the disadvantages of hollow sprints?
-need motivation to stay focused.
What are acceleration sprints?
Pace is gradually increased from a standing or rolling start to jogging then to striding at a maximum speed.
What would a acceleration sprint session look like?
-25 metre hills at 15°.
-walk or jog back down the hill.
-1.5 to 2.5 minute rest between each repetition.
-repeat x8.
What are the advantages of acceleration sprints?
-No specialist equipment.
-easy to complete.
What are the disadvantages of acceleration sprints?
-need motivation.
What is interval training?
Alternating work periods with rest and recovery periods.
