What is plyometric training?

A

Its a quick, powerful move that starts with an eccentric (muscle lengthening) action and is immediately followed by a concentric (muscles shortening) action.

What can plyometric train?

A

-power.
-strength.
Sports- track athletes, netball, basket hall, volleyball.
Exercises- standing jumps, bouncing, shipping, hopping and medicine ball exercises.

A

-Sports specific.
-little cost involved.
-no specialist equipment.
-allows replication of movement.

A

-needs to be experienced to perform safely.
-has to be performed at very high intensity (can result in muscle damage (injury).
