-standpipe siamese and spt connectors are not always found closest to subway entrances…they may be located a few HUNDRED FEET away from the station , in either direction of train travel…they also may be found in the middle of large roadways (houston street/grand concourse/queens blvd)
SPTs located on MEZZANINE OR PLATFORM LEVEL are located ?
in RED METAL BOXES inside STAINLESS STEEL STANDPIPE CABINETS
- standpipe cabinets identified by sign -white hose on red background
- combination Standpipe/SPT boxes may be located on columns or station wall….if there is no SPT outlet located in the standpipe box, look in surrounding area for small individual cabinet
Street to TUNNEL systems …
usually include specific PAIR of tubes..example: members in Brooklyn bound-Clark st. tube can speak to members in Manhattan bound- clark street tube…..BUT NOT IN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TUBE
- SPT CONNECTOR typically located at the STREET LEVEL SIAMESE CONNECTIONS CLOSEST TO THE EMERGENCY EXITS ON BOTH SIDE OF THE UNDER RIVER TUBES
- IN THE UNDER RIVER TUBES- SPT connectors are found at STANDPIPE OUTLETS: approx. 200 feet apart….transit authority will identify these outlets by NUMBER (GOOD INDICATION of location of incident)…Members operating in the tube should NOTIFY IC OF STANDPIPE OUTLET NUMBER

What is the required maintenance for SPT ?
change the 9 volt battery in the amplifier SEMI ANNUALLY
-Amplifier not working - contact R&D- repair and replacement
