Q

7 bag system..?

A

smallest- 12-ton bag
largest - 74 ton bag

lifting height — 8” to 20”

tonnage is based on its capacity to lift that tonnage 1 inch…example: 12 ton bag will lift 12 tons 1 inch

74 ton bag will lift 74 tons 1 inch

Q

Air supply hoses?

A

2- red hoses/16 feet
1-yellow hose/16 feet

-additional hose can be used to allow for safe operation of air bags…all bags, air supply hoses and regulators are equipped with heavy duty quick connectors

Q

STEEL scba cylinders are used to operate bags..

A

Set Low PRESSURE TO 135 PSI

HIGH PRESSURE GAUGE falls below 200 PSI, change the cylinder

always open HIGH pressure air source SLOWLY…make sure all valves are in closed position

Q

Control valves?

A

quarter turn ball valves that work independently

  • connect one red air hose to pressure regulator and to the control valve
  • connect other red air hose to one of the air outlets

Q

Place bag under load with…?

A

-AIR NIPPLE pointing out
-place bag as close to the load as possible
ALWAYS have the bag connected prior to placing it under or between a load to minimize the operator’s exposure to the load area and to eliminate the possibility of the operator placing the bag with the air inlet under the load

Q

Speed of inflation is controlled by?

A

CONTROL VALVE LEVER- slowly moving it PARALLEL to the air line

-inflate bags SLOWLY to minimize chance of load shifting

11
Q

As bag is being inflated, note the gauge reading on the control valve safety relief. The gauge reads the INTERNAL AIR PRESSURE OF CONNECTED BAG…

A

MAXIMUM INTERNAL AIR PRESSURE FOR THE BAG WHEN USED FOR LIFTING PURPOSES IS 118 PSI…
-safety relief valve will prevent over inflation

normally inflation should be JUST ENOUGH to lift load as far as needed

when the gauge reaches the vicinity of the RED MARK, safety relief will open (118 psI) and start venting

14
Q

2 separate shut off devices are provided to be used when there is need to inflate several bags..

A

shut-off device is placed on the NIPPLE of the LIFTING BAG
-as soon as bag is inflated to the required height, knurled knob can be turned clockwise closing off the flow of air to the bag

air hose can now be disconnected and will remain inflated

Q

Air cylinders can be changed during operation or when pressure falls below 200 PSI..

A

change cylinder-stop, block or shore and make sure all inlet and outlet valves on cylinder, pressure regulator and control valve and safety relief are in the FULLY CLOSED POSITION.. disconnect air outlet hose from pressure regulator/disconnect and bleed regulator

16
Q

If necessary to block up bag..?

A

3/4” plywood, 3 layers thick, glued or nailed or screwed together is recommended

-bags should only be inflated 1/2 to 3/4 of their rated capacity..pillowing affect should be avoided

17
Q

Do NOT stand in front of the opening where the bag has been placed…

A

there is possibility of the bag being pushed out

18
Q

Never work under a load unless…

A

it is shored or blocked

-although a bag does not need a smooth surface, blocks or shoring do

19
Q

Avoid inflating bags against..?

A

SHARP OBJECTS or on a surface heated to over 220 degrees F…
-use insulated pad (canvas/rubber) or 3/4” plywood between hot or sharp surface

20
Q

2 bags may be used safely from ONE CONTROL safety relief device…this allows for greater lift…

A

NEVER stack more than 2 bags on top of each other and ALWAYS place the smaller bag on top of the larger one

generally-inflate bottom bag first

when stacking- tonnage of SMALLER BAG IS MAX

21
Q

Lifting capability is reduced by 50% to obtain max lifting height…

A

Example: a 30 tong bag with a max height of 10 inches will lift 30 tons 1 “, but will lift 15 tons 10”

22
Q

Store bags in horizontal position..

A

do not place wood between bags

23
Q

Leak Sealing Field Kit

A

seal leaks in tank or truck containers used to store chemical or fuel

  • 4 clamps
  • 2 ratchet belts, 30 ft
  • 2 extension belts, 20 ft
  • one air hose, ORANGE, with built in 22 psi safety relief valve…THIS AIR HOSE ONLY USED FOR LEAK SEALING
  • 1 sheet neoprene(added bag protection)- 20 inches x 20 inches
  • slowly inflated- stop when leak is stopped or relief valve is venting- do not override
  • do not be concerned if the teeth clamps ‘bite’
24
Q

Inspect?

A

before each use/after each use

  • never drag bag by hoses
  • average life of bag is 10 years
  • wash with soap and water
