Maxi Force Air Bags -20 Flashcards
Air bags required how much space for insertion?
1 inch
Air Bags for?
- cylindrical /odd shape objects
- collapsed floors, tree, poles
- vehicles, steering column, door post, dashboard
- elevator doors, subway trains, iron bars
- work well with Hurst tool, power saw, torch, air chisel
7 bag system..?
smallest- 12-ton bag
largest - 74 ton bag
lifting height — 8” to 20”
tonnage is based on its capacity to lift that tonnage 1 inch…example: 12 ton bag will lift 12 tons 1 inch
74 ton bag will lift 74 tons 1 inch
Units should paint?
LIFT HEIGHT AND LIFT CAPACITY
X-used to center bag under load
Whenever high pressure air sources is used..?
pressure regulator must be used
Air supply hoses?
2- red hoses/16 feet
1-yellow hose/16 feet
-additional hose can be used to allow for safe operation of air bags…all bags, air supply hoses and regulators are equipped with heavy duty quick connectors
STEEL scba cylinders are used to operate bags..
Set Low PRESSURE TO 135 PSI
HIGH PRESSURE GAUGE falls below 200 PSI, change the cylinder
always open HIGH pressure air source SLOWLY…make sure all valves are in closed position
Control valves?
quarter turn ball valves that work independently
- connect one red air hose to pressure regulator and to the control valve
- connect other red air hose to one of the air outlets
Place bag under load with…?
-AIR NIPPLE pointing out
-place bag as close to the load as possible
ALWAYS have the bag connected prior to placing it under or between a load to minimize the operator’s exposure to the load area and to eliminate the possibility of the operator placing the bag with the air inlet under the load
Speed of inflation is controlled by?
CONTROL VALVE LEVER- slowly moving it PARALLEL to the air line
-inflate bags SLOWLY to minimize chance of load shifting
As bag is being inflated, note the gauge reading on the control valve safety relief. The gauge reads the INTERNAL AIR PRESSURE OF CONNECTED BAG…
MAXIMUM INTERNAL AIR PRESSURE FOR THE BAG WHEN USED FOR LIFTING PURPOSES IS 118 PSI…
-safety relief valve will prevent over inflation
normally inflation should be JUST ENOUGH to lift load as far as needed
when the gauge reaches the vicinity of the RED MARK, safety relief will open (118 psI) and start venting
Stabilize and shore load BEFORE placing bags into position…
build shoring as load is being lifted
Deflate bag with the control valve safety relief…
close CONTROL LEVERS, then SLOWLY turn the knurled knob on the top of the safety relief counter-clockwise
2 separate shut off devices are provided to be used when there is need to inflate several bags..
shut-off device is placed on the NIPPLE of the LIFTING BAG
-as soon as bag is inflated to the required height, knurled knob can be turned clockwise closing off the flow of air to the bag
air hose can now be disconnected and will remain inflated
Air cylinders can be changed during operation or when pressure falls below 200 PSI..
change cylinder-stop, block or shore and make sure all inlet and outlet valves on cylinder, pressure regulator and control valve and safety relief are in the FULLY CLOSED POSITION.. disconnect air outlet hose from pressure regulator/disconnect and bleed regulator
