Colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-irritating toxic gas
What is CO a by-product of?
Incomplete combustion from fuels (gasoline, wood, coal, propane, methan)
What is the ignition temperature of CO?
1128 degrees F
The LEL and UEL of CO is?
LEL- 12.5%
UEL- 74%
What is the vapor density of CO?
.968, slightly lighter than air. CO will disperse evenly through a room
How does CO cause death?
Displaces oxygen in the bloodstream and asphyxiates victims
How is CO poisoning measure in the blood?
COHb Carboxyhemoglobin
CO is how many more times attracted to hemoglobin than oxygen?
210 times
How many parts of oxygen are required to displace 1 part of CO?
200 parts
When does an area with CO need to be evacuated regardless if occupants are asymptomatic?
If CO is over 9ppm
When shall the IC request the gas company?
When CO level is over 9ppm
