What is the purpose of the fire in manholes SOG?
To provide a method of safe and effective response to manhole fires/explosions and underground electrical vaults and make members aware of secondary issues such as, CO and HCN intrusion into connected structures.
What should not be directed into manholes until it has been confirmed that utilities are shut down?
Water
What needs to occur prior to any fire suppression operations in manholes?
Energized electrical equipment needs to be de-energized
Who needs to be at the command post to ensure seamless coordination?
An SCG and UI representative
Which readings shall be obtained from attached structures?
CO and HCN
What are the mandatory minimum safety practices that will be used during manhole fires?
Be aware of projectiles from explosions
2-in-2-out rule will apply
Structural PPE and SCBA shall be work
What is the 1st due officer to determine upon arrival?
Nature of situation/hazard and danger area

What is the minimum isolation zone distance?
100-300 feet
What should the isolation zone include?
Manholes on all 4 sides of the troubled hole, overhead wires, nearby structures and light poles

Electrical wires, transformers, telephone lines, gas lines, sewage
