- those who owns the rules and means of production - ownership of things such as land
lower class :
- own nothing but have ability to sell their labour

  • false class consciousness - inability to recognise and inequality and oppression in capitalist society

  • criminogenic capitalism where crime is inevitable in a capitalist society as it is based on the exploitation of the working class and poverty may mean crime is the only way the working class can survive
  • utilitarian crime such as theft
  • alienation is a lack of control over ones life and then they may feel frustration and aggression leading to non utilitarian crime
