When a skill is practiced over and over again until it is perfected- situations with no change
Variable practice
Practicing the skill in a variety of different situations so it can suit different competitive situations
Visual guidance
When you can physically see through a video or posters
Verbal guidance
When you are told by a manager how to perform a skill
Manual guidance
When the coach is in contact with the learner to aid them in performing a skill
Mechanical guidance
Performer is guided by equipment or machinery to aid in performing the skill or movement
Intrinsic feedback
Comes from the individual. Self-reflection
Extrinsic feedback
Comes from an external source like a coach
Concurrent feedback
During a game for quick improvement, during performance
Terminal feedback
After the performance for reflective improvement as an overview of the whole performance, more long-lasting improvement
Arousal for mental preparation
Your excitement and readiness for sport. Low arousal leads to low motivation and high arousal leads to nervousness.

Maintain a positive attitude- self talk
Stay calm- music
Mental Rehearsal-visualise a good performance
Eliminate distractions-ignore external factors of stress
Advantage of visual guidance
Easy to understand with a representation of what to do
Advantage of verbal guidance
Can explain complex skills
Advantage of manual and mechanical guidance
Have help from an external source when performing the skill
Disadvantage of visual guidance
Hard to show complex skills
