Soc 8 Flashcards
What are are smart goals?
(Specifc, Measurable, achievable, realistic, time bound)
PAR-Q
Physical Activity Readiness Questionaire
What does a PAR-Q do?
It identifies if someone is ready to participate?
What is a practical use of PAR-Q
A self -screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine.
3 Phases of a Warm up
Cardiovascular, strechinf, sport specific.
Cardiovascualr phase
Gradually raise the heartrate towards the working heartrate.
Phase 1 of a cool dowm
Activites used such as jogging to GRADUALLY decrease heart rate.
Phase 2 of a cool down
Static stretching
Why is the pules rasing (cardiovascualr phase) important?
Gradually increase heart rate= increase body temperature. Gentle aerobic activity.
Why is the stretchign phase important?
Helps impove range if movement, mobilises joints, helps maintain body temperature
How long should a warmup last?
10-20 minutes. Involves gradually increasing intensity.
What activity comes after the warm up?
The main session (game, match, activity)
Why is a cool down important?
An effective cool down assist recovery, reduces heart rate and hells remove lactic acid and other waste products
Cool down structure.
Light cardio, stretching
Why are the two cool down phases important?i
Decreases muscle tension, return muscle to pre exercise state. Helps reuturn heart + breathing rate to resting.
