1

Q

What planes and axes and equal, perpinduclar to each other

A

Frontal plane = sagittal axis
Sagittal plane = frontal axis

They are perpendicular to one another

Q

Summaries planes and axes

A

Sagittal plane = frontal axis (allows flexion and extension) example: front somersault

Frontal plane = sagittal axis (allows adduction and abduction)
example: cartwheel

Tranverse plane= vertical axis (allows rotation) example: trampoline twist

Q

Explain the sagittal plane

A

Divides the body top to bottom (vertically) resulting with a left and right side (allows flexion and extension)

Q

Explain the frontal plane

A

Also divides the body top to bottom (vertically) but front to back sections (allows adduction and abduction)

Q

Describe the tranverse plane

A

Divides the body across the middle (horizontally), providing a top section (known as superior) and a bottom section (known as inferior)

Q

Describe the frontal axis

A

Runs from side to side, formed by the intersection of the frontal and tranverse planes (allows flexion and extension)

Q

Dscribe the vertical axis

A

Runs from top to bottom and is formed by the intersection of the frontal and sagittal planes (allows rotation of the body in an upright position)
