Soc 16-The Structure Of Blood Vessels And Blood Distribution Flashcards
What is Cardio-Respiratory system:
The interaction of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen muscles during exercise
What is Cardiovasuclar:
To do with the heart blood and blood vessels together.
What is Vasodilation:
When veins swell up or dilate; widening of the internal diameter (lumen) of the blood vessel to allow increased blood flow
Vasoconstirction
When viens shrink down; narrowing of the internak diameter (lumen) of the blood vessel to decrease blood flow
What are the three main functions of the cardio-respiratory system?
Trantsporrs, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients
It helps blood clots
Controls body temperature
What does the body linking to the cardiovascular system when exercising
It makes
Where does the blood travel to? (Oxygenated)
Diffusion Working muscles Aorta Left ventricle Bicuspid valve Left atrium Pulmonary vein
How can capillaries help a performer?
Capillaries are important in sport because they are the points where oxygeated bloood is delivered to the muscles, and where deoxygenated blood is taken away from the muscles.
What is Vascular Shunting?
When you exercise, the distribution of blood in your body changes and your muscles need more blood for movement.
