SMART targets and information processing model Flashcards
SMART targets
What is SPECIFIC?
The target must be specific to the demands of the sport, muscles used or movements used
SMART targets
What is MEASUREABLE?
The target must be possible to measure whether the specific target set has been met
SMART targets
What is ACCEPTED?
The target must be accepted by the performers and others involved in training and competetion.
SMART targets
What is REALISTIC?
The target must be actually be possible to complete and attain
SMART targets
What is TIME- BOUND?
The target cover a set period of time so that the performer knows whether or not they have achieved it
What is the information processing model?
input > decision making > output > feedback
Information processing model:
What is INPUT?
1
- performers receive info from senses/ the display
- info then processed by performer
- selective attention focusing on specific stimulus and ignoring irrelevant info
Information processing model:
What is DECISION MAKING?
2
1) Decisions are made regarding the input received
2) performer response
3) decision making is made more effective through experience
Information processing model:
What is OUTPUT?
3
1) info is sent to the muscles once a decision is made
2) the muscles initiate a coordinated reaction to perform the skill decided on
Information processing model:
What is FEEDBACK?
4
1) Internal/ external feedback
2) positive feedback reinforces actions
3) negative feedback helps identify areas for improvement
