Duties of a monitoring officer
Undertake remote monitoring
Attend incidents either as ordered or following a RA while monitoring
Gather evidence on operational performance, including behaviour and attitude
Take command if necessary
Make sure SSOW are in place
Provide support and guidance to the IC
Report to the PRC and PRO
Report findings to improve service delivery and to record good practice
Describe the monitoring officer tabard

Generally when a stop has been sent and this shows a decrease in attendance - however at protracted incidents there might be a need for the MO to remain at scene & this should be considered in the relief plan
Describe the recording of evidence at an incident
The MO is required to record the areas of best practice and under performance on the Incident monitoring database. This is checked by the administrator and an email generated to the line manager. Individuals can discuss this with the reporting manager, it’s best practice to discuss the main issues at the time before leaving the incident.
