- irregular waveforms with slower frequencies and higher voltages

This stage occurs as you fall more deeply asleep.
Features:
- Theta waves
- Sleep spindles (small oscillating waves)
- K complex (big N waves)

This stage occurs when your in an even deeper sleep.
Features:
- Delta waves
- Where most sleep disorders occur
- Non rapid eye movement
- cognitive recovery
- Memory consolidation
- Increased growth hormone release

This stage occurs when individual is sound asleep.
Features:
- Rapid eye movement
- Body Paralysis
- Consolidating Procedural memories
