What was Tulkers research?

A

studied participants over 31 days and nights in a controlled setting. He found large differences, especially for slow wave sleeping. As it was all controlled it meant it was dispositional factors not environmental. Therefore not everyone experiences sleep the same way.

What was Ohagon’s research?

A

Meta-analysis of 65 studies on lifespan changes in sleep. Participants used 5-102 yr old’s. Key findings was that total sleep time decreased over life span, from 470 mins to 370 mins at 70 years.

What was the biggest change in Ohagon’s research?

A

Deep NREM is the biggest change. 24% at 5 and then 9% at 70. Therefore as time goes on, the sleep we get changes.
