what are open skills?
skills which are much harder to learn and have multiple steps and require breaking down.
e.g. tennis serve
what are closed skills?
skills which are easy to learn and don’t require many steps to learn, or breaking down into sections.
e.g. cheat pass
what are gross skills?
these are skills usually acquired at a young age.
e.g. walking
what are fine skills?
this requires co-ordination of smaller muscles, and also requires more thought processes
e.g. darts
what are discrete skills?
they have a clear start and end.
e.g. long jump
what are serial skills?
this contains two or more actions which are linked together.
e.g.tennis serve
what are continuous skills?
this has no clear start or end, as movements are repeated
e.g. running.
what is self paced?
controlled by the performer
e.g. gymnastic routine
what is externally paced?
pace is controlled by the environment.
e.g. invasion games- football
what is highly organised skills?
a skill which has a complex number of steps which are not able to be broken down easily.
e.g. running
whats ia low in organisation skill?
skills which are made up of numerous different parts which can be broken down.
e.g. tennis serve
what is a simple skill?
small amount of information to be processed and few decisions to be made
e.g. shot put
what is a complex skill?
involves a large amount of information to be processed and a number of decisions to be made quickly.
e.g. invasion games- football
