Simple Organs - Membranes Flashcards
How many different simple organs are there? (When pertaining to the complexity of this course)
- Mucosa
- Serosa
- Synovial
- Cutaneous
Which simple membrane lines the cavities which open directly to the body exterior? While the epithelial layer varies from simple squamous to pseudostratified.
Mucous Membrane (mucosa)
Which simple membrane lines cavities that do not open to the exterior surfaces?
Serous Membrane (serosa) Double membranes often containing simple squamous and areolar connective tissue. The side that lines the organ is called visceral and the side that lines the body cavity is called parietal. Serous fluid between layers. ie. pericardium = heart pleura = lung peritoneum = abdominal organs
Which simple membrane is compacted between two joints in an effort to make sure they glide smoothly? And doesn’t contain epithelium and only contains areolar connective tissue.
Synovial Membranes
Which simple membrane covers the entirety of the human body and is stratified squamous and connective tissue areolar and dense irregular?
Cutaneous Membrane - the skin
