Q

probability

A

The accepted level of probability in psychology is 5% (p = 0.05). Even if we find a significant difference or relationship within the data, there is still up to 5% probability that it could have occurred by chance.

Q

critical value

A

Value to be achieved for significance. Found in table of critical values, we need to know N (the number of participants), the probability level (5%) and whether the test is one-tailed or two-tailed.
