Who was Freud?
A medical doctor.
What did Freud see in hospitals?
He saw that people with severe mental health problems either got very little treatment or no treatment at all.

That he had strong feelings for her as a child.

He lived at a time in which Jews were being persecuted.

Was Freud scientific in his approach?
He was, due to his training as a medical doctor, and he made an effort to be scientific. But he was strongly criticised for being unscientific despite this.
Background to ‘Little Hans’ and Freud’s studying of him?
Little Hans was a small boy whose development was relayed by his father to Freud for quite a long time.
When studying Little Hans, Freud says that he tried hard to only consider data that came directly from Little Hans, and to discount interpretations by Little Hans’s father.
The story of Little Hans provided evidence for some of Freud’s ideas.
When was the Little Hans case study published?
In 1909.
When was Freud’s theory developed?
Around the turn of the 20th century.
