Effect of nicotine at synapse?
A
Releases more neurotransmitter in response to an impulse and increases number of impulses, thus more dopamine in the reward system.

Effect of cocaine at synapse?
A
Blocks reuptake so there is more neurotransmitter (dopamine) in the synapse.

Effect of cannabis at synapse?
A
Binds to CB1 (cannabinoid) receptors and blocks activity. It can also affect GABAergic neurons and stops them from inhibiting dopamine production in the reward system, thus there is excess dopamine there.
