SHOULDER dislocation classic presentation
A
- a person comes in with shoulder pain after hearing a “pop” sound after a fall and feels stiff in overhead activities
- after initial injury the shoulder is throbbing and in the morning it is stiff and achy
- the pain is a constant dull ache and feeling of instability

- rotator cuff tear
- shoulder tendonitis
- frozen shoulder

- 95% acute traumatic dislocations
- “POP” sensation of instability
- ant. dislocation

contraindications
A
- careful of pushing on the arm
- not comfortable lying on either side
- activator may be painful

technique
A
- no side postures or pushing on patients shoulder
- place pillow b/w arm and torso to increase comfort

care plan
A
2 x a week for 4 weeks then progress

recommendations
A
- re-establish pain free ROM
- strengthening and proprioception drills
