Sequence Aircraft Flashcards
(2-1-4)
Operational Priority:
Besides first come, first serve:
>Emergency >MedEvac >SAR >Presidential >Flight Check
(3-8-(all)
When is a touch-and-go, low approach, or a stop-and-go considered a departing aircraft?
When it:
> touches down
> comes to a complete stop
> or crosses the landing threshold
(4-3-4)
When issuing clearance void times at airports not served by control towers, provide:
Alternative instructions requiring the pilots to advise ATC of their intentions no later than 30 minutes after the clearance void time if not airborne.
(4-7-8)
If an arriving aircraft reports weather conditions are below his/her landing minima:
> issue appropriate instructions to the aircraft to hold or proceed to another airport
> Adjust, as necessary, the position in the landing sequence of any other aircraft desiring to make approaches and issue approach clearances accordingly
(7-4-3)
Visual approaches
Even when an aircraft is being vectored for an instrument approach…
Controllers and pilots may:
Initiate or request a visual approach.
(7-6-(2-3)
Service availability
When a service cannot be provided because of radar outage:
Inform aircraft on initial contact.
(7-6(6-8)
Approach Sequence
Do not assign landing sequence numbers, when establishing aircraft in the approach sequence, unless:
This responsibility has been delegated in a LOA or facility directive.
(7-6-12)
Service Provided When Tower is Inoperative
What information do you give aircraft when the tower is not in operation
> wind direction and velocity
> traffic information
> inform aircraft when radar service is terminated
(4-3-4)
What is the phraseology for issuing clearance void?
CLEARANCE VOID IF NOT OFF BY. (Clearance void time)
And if required
IF NOT OFF BY (clearance void time), ADVISE (facility) NOT LATER THAN (time) OF INTENTIONS.
TIME (time in hours, minutes, and the nearest quarter minute)
(4-3-4)
When issuing hold for release instructions, include:
Departure delay information
(Aircraft ID) CLEARED TO (destination) AIRPORT AS FILED, MAINTAIN (altitude)
And if required
(Additional instructions or information)
HOLD FOR RELEASE, EXPECT (time in hours and/or minutes) DEPARTURE DELAY
(4-3-4)
When you’ve given a departure delay, release the aircraft:
As soon as possible
(Aircraft ID) RELEASED
To a flight service specialist:
ADVISE (aircraft ID) RELEASED FOR DEPARTURE
To a pilot at an airport not served by a control tower:
(Aircraft ID) RELEASED FOR DEPARTURE
(7-4-3)
Visual approaches
After a controller or pilot initiates or pilots request a visual approach, pilots should report:
> the airport or the runway in sight at airports with operating towers
> the airport in sight at airports without a control tower
(7-4-3)
visual approaches
What things do you have to ensure when an aircraft requests a visual approach into an airport?
> all potential conflicts are resolved
> advise aircraft of overtaking aircraft
> weather conditions at the airport are VFR
> advise the pilot that weather is not available for the destination airport
> upon pilot request, advise the pilot the frequency to receive weather info where AWOS/ASOS is available
(7-4-3)
visual approaches
What is the phraseology used when the weather the airport an aircraft is making a visual approach to is unavailable?
WEATHER NOT AVAILABLE OR VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE THE (airport) WEATHER
(7-4-3)
visual approaches
When do you clear an aircraft for a visual approach?
> when the aircraft is number one in the approach sequence, or
> the aircraft to follow a preceding aircraft and the pilot reports the preceding aircraft in sight and is instructed to follow it, or
> the pilot reports the airport or runway in sight but not the preceding aircraft. Radar separation must be maintained until visual separation is provided.
