Separate Aircraft Flashcards
(2-1-2)
What is duty priority?
Separate aircraft and issue safety alerts (this order)
Provide support to national security and homeland defense activities to include, but not limited to, reporting of suspicious and/or unusual aircraft/pilot activities
Provide additional services to the extent possible, contingent only upon higher priority duties and other factors included limitations of radar, volume of traffic, frequency congestion, and workload.
(2-1-13)
Control formation flights as a:
Single aircraft.
(4-3-4)
Departure Restrictions, clearance void times, hold for release, and release times
When issuing clearance void time sat airports not served by control towers, provide alternative instructions requiring the pilots to advise ATC of their intentions no later than:
30 minutes after the clearance void time if not airborne.
(5-1-4)
Beacon Range Accuracy
If beacon range accuracy cannot be verified:
.you may use beacon targets only for traffic information

Vertical Application
If aircraft are not separated laterally, they can be separated vertically by one of what methods?
> assign altitudes to aircraft where the applicable separation minima is maintained at all times
> assign an altitude to an aircraft after the aircraft previously at that altitude has been issued a climb/descent clearance and is observed leaving the altitude
(5-6-(all)
Exceptions
Assign an altitude to an aircraft only after the aircraft previously at that altitude is observed at or passing through another altitude separated from the first by the appropriate minima when:
.>sever turbulence is reported
> aircraft are conducting military aerial refueling
> the aircraft previously at that altitude has been issued a climb/descent at pilot’s discretion
(5-7-(all)
Passing or Diverging
All other approved separation may be discontinued and passing or diverging separation applied when:
(Single site ASR or FUSION mode)
> aircraft are on opposite/reciprocal courses and you have observed that they have passed each other; or aircraft are on same or crossing courses/assigned radar vectors and one aircraft has crossed the projected course of the other, and the angular difference between their courses/assigned radar vectors is at least 15 degrees
> the tracks are monitored to ensure that the primary targets, beacon control slashes, FUSION target symbols, or full digital terminal system primary and/or beacon target symbols will not touch.
(5-8-(all)
Radar Departures
Separate aircraft departing from the same airport/heliport or adjacent airports/heliports in accordance with the following minima provided radar ID will be established within:
1 mile of the take off runway end/helipad
And courses will diverge by 15 degrees or more
