Radar Contact
Phrase used by ATC to inform an aircraft that it is identified using ATC surveillance on an ATC display and that radar flight following will be provided until radar service is terminated.

Phrase used to inform aircraft that their position is no longer being received, or is no longer reliable and radar service is no longer being provided.

Radar Identification
The process of ascertaining that an observed radar target is the radar return from a particular aircraft

What are the primary radar identification methods?
> observing a departing target within 1 mile of the takeoff runway end at airports with a tower, provided that:
- a verbal rolling/boundary notification is issued for each departure or, - a nonverbal rolling/boundary notification is used for each departure aircraft
> position correlation
> observing a target make a turn of 30 degrees or more provided that the following are met:
- a position report is received (making sure it’s in radar coverage area) - only one aircraft is observed making these turns
