Describe the opening position, whyis this section delivered in this position rather than side by side.

A

They are now closer in proximity to eachother which reflects how they are in more cramped conditions on the train. Could also reflect how Larbi is trying to understand Khan’s emotions. Could also show how Khan is looking at himslef, he can’t believe that nobody is helping the woman and can’t understand why he isn’t.

What happens when Khan says “When you’re looking at a person or an animal and you think that they are still but they never really achieve stillness, you’re constantly in motion.”

A

Khan turns his palm from pronation to supernation which shows the transition point from one thing to another.

Khan and Larbi slide the paslms of their hands past eachother smoothly and fluidly which shows the idea of transition points.

Khan holds his hand out, hand splayed,, completely still. Larbi hold his hand out and gent;y wiggles his fingers. Shows the literal meaning to what he said.

Explain the movement this picture represents and its interpretation.

A

The dancers talk about the rising tension and mixture of emotions that they are feeling. This movement is very similar to in section one but this time is performed with one hand. They place their hand in front of their chest where their heart is with the palm facing in. They then vibrate their hand backwards and forwards as a representation of their emotions.

“Clonk, clonk, clonk”

Describes the way that the head of the dead body hit the train platform. Khan and Larbi perform 3 flicks of the wrist horizontally moving outwards

A

“Why did you kill him?”

Khan crosses over the horizontal line dividing them by pointing his hand at Larbi in a threatening and accusing manner. Larbi crosses in to Khan’s space with an open hand, prehaps showing his innocence.

How is the text spoken?

A

Khan is speaking in a very fast pace to emphasise how the situation all happened very quickly and how nobody stopped to help. It is all very flustered and high tempo to show the build up of emotions.
