Section 7- Box Step Flashcards
Describe the opening movement.
Larbi starts with this movement and then Khan joins in. They perform two steps forward to a parallel second position before stepping back and together. They swing their arms everytime that they step.
These movements represent the rocking of the train, a continual, steady rocking. The way that their feet remain parallel could also represent the train tracks.
How is the opening movement developed throughout the section?
- Canon- one begins and then the other begins so they are one step out of sink.
- Fragmentation- they perform only the arm swings which shows how even when Khan was unable to act or think the train still goes on
- Stage face and place- reflects the movement of the train
Explain the movement this picture represents and its interpretation.
The aural setting is a sliding pitch by the strings from high to low and the music dance relationship is music visualisation. The dancers rock up with a feeling of suspension befoe falling to the floor in quite a natural way with a look of disorientation. As they fall they rock on to their shoulders.
This movement represents the continuing change of emotional state and possibly suggests the idea of fainting
Explain the movement this picture represents and its interpretation.
Khan is on his knees in front of Ibral, stage left, looking up at him.
This could represent the spiritual judgement that Khan feels he is recieving for not helping the woman on the train. He is asking for forgiveness and is bowing his head in shame
Explain the movement this picture represents and its interpretation. How is it developed?
