What is the definition of hazardous drinking
Drinking above the level that may cause harm in the future bu is not currently causing harm (14+ units per week)
What is the definition of harmful drinking
Drinking that is leading the physical, social or psychological harm (40/50+ units per week)
What is alcohol dependence
Individual has 3 or more symptoms of alcohol dependence:
Tolerance
Alcohol withdrawal
Craving
Persistent use despite harm
Difficult in controlling drinking
Progressive neglect of alternative interest
What are the national recommend units a male and female should consume
No more than 14 units per week which is spread over 3 days
How do you calculate the units of alcohol in any drink
(Volume X abv%) / 1000
How do we identify hazardous and harmful alcohol use
