Q

How do protozoans and algae differ?

A

Protozoans: they are more animal-like, they are consumers, they reproduce by asexual mitosis or sexual conjugation

Q

Describe one method of asexual reproduction and one method of sexual reproduction in protists.

A

Asexual: A colony of floating algae in the water performs mitosis. If something jumps in the water, FRAGMENTATION of colonies happens and a new colony begins

Sexual: Some protozoans can reproduce sexually. One type is conjugation; they join their oral grooves together and exchange their nuclear material. Then they separate.
