Scapulohumeral Muscles Flashcards
suprspinatus
O: supraspinous fossa
I: sup facet of greater tubercle
N: suprascapular nerve (C4, C5, C6)
A: initiates and assists deltoid by abducting arm 15 degrees
deltoid
O: lateral 1/3 of clavicle, acromian, spine of scapula
I: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
N: axillary (C5, C6)
A: clavicular part (ant)– flexes and med rotates arm
acromial part (middle)– abducts arm
spinal part (post)– extends and laterally rotates arm
infraspinatous
O: infraspinous fossa of scapula
I: middle fact of greater tubercle
N: suprascapular nerve (C5, C6)
A: laterally rotates arm, holds humeral head in glenoid cavity
teres minor
O: middle part of lateral border of scapula
I: inf facet of greater tubercle
N: axillary nerve (C5, C6)
A: laterally rotates arm, holds humeral head in glenoid cavity
subscapularis
O: subscapular fossa
I: lesser tubercle
N: upper and lower subscapular nerves (C5,C6, C7)
A: adducts and medially rotates arm, holds humeral head in place
teres major
O: post surface of inf angle of scapula
I: medial lip on intertubercular sulcus
N: lower subscapular nerve (C5, C6)
A: adducts and medially rotates arm
