t-test basic description
-start at start line, sprint up 10 yards, you will choose a direction (you can choose either direction)
-once you get to the cone, you can choose left/right direction again
-once you get to middle cone, when you choose direction you will laterally shuffle, you won’t turn + sprint
-you will touch the outside cone with your hand again with the outside hand (same as the 5-10-5), then you will laterally shuffle across all the way to the other cone 10 yards to the other side
-you will touch with the outside hand then shuffle back to the middle cone, then you will back pedal all the way back to the starting line
t-test specifics
-40 yards
-change in direction test that measures forward, backward, + lateral speed with 40 yards of total sprinting; lateral shuffle + backpedal at end
-primarily used for basketball + football; can be used for soccer + baseball
-measured in yards
L-drill (3-cone drill) basic description
-start at a cone 5 yds away, run down to first cone, touch
-go back to first cone touch
-go back to second cone around it, then on inside of cone go on outside + all the way out + sprint through the finish
L-drill (3-cone drill) specifics
-30 yards
-change in direction drill with 30 yards of measured sprinting
-primarily used for football; soccer, basketball, + baseball also
-measured in yards
-make sure to follow correct path + that athlete touches the line
Illinois drill basic description
going out 10 meters, going around a cone, going all the way down, going to loop around inside cones, serpentine back 10 meters, go all the way down again 10 meters, run all the way down
Illinois drill specifics
-longest drill, 65 meters
-anaerobic sprint
-original Illinois test has component of agility with athlete starting in supine position
-primarily used for soccer; used in tactical S&C for police officers
-measured in meters
505 basic description
-we have our starting line at the A cones
-they sprint out, but you don’t start timer at the actual start line, they sprint 10 meters (idea of basically getting through the drive phase)
-then they pass the B mark, which is when the timer starts, they get to top speed, they decelerate a complete 180 degree turn, + stop at the C mark, turn around + go as fast as they can + sprint through B + once they pass the line, you stop
-really just 10m of decelerating + accelerating back
505 specifics
-20 meters
-change in direction test that involves 20 meters sprinting with 10 meters timed
-primarily used in soccer; can be used in basketball, football, baseball
-only test that uses 180 degree change in direction
-drive -> decelerate -> drive other direction
-measured in meters
pro-agility (5-10-5) basic description
-you sprint 5 yards, + always tough with your outside hand
-then sprint 10 yards all the way across to the other line, touch with your outside hand
-then sprint through the center line, don’t need to touch anything just sprint through
pro-agility (5-10-5) specifics
-20 yards
-change in direction test with 20 yards of timed sprint
-primarily used in NFL + NHL; can be used in basketball + soccer
-an attempt will not be counted if athlete uses inside hand to touch the line
-measured in yards
-start in 3-point stance, good for defense/LBs
