How does it work?
A
- a low dam(around 1m) is built across the river
- during rain, it traps eroded material behind the dam
- water gets trapped between the sand particles(around third of what is trapped is water)
- the send prevents water from evaporation
- the water can be extracted by digging a well and piping the water

- easy and cheap to built
- the height of dam can be raised each year to trap more water
