SAIT abdomen routine Flashcards
What are tips for getting the Sagittal left lobe liver - Lateral? 3
- Make sure that you are in the lateral left lobe Left of the aorta
- The Superior area of the lobe should be visible with the diaphragm and small portion of the Thorax in the FOV
- Don’t need to see aorta in the image
What structure might be visualized in the sagittal left lobe of the liver- lateral?
The GE junction might be visualized posterior to the lobe and adjacent of the liver
What is included in the sagittal left lobe liver - with aorta image?
- Aorta should be a posterior landmark
- Superior area of the lobe should be visible with diaphragm and a small portion of the thorax in the FOV
What should be demonstrated in the sagittal left lobe liver with IVC/CL image?
- Medial left lobe with the IVC as a posterior landmark
- Caudate lobe should demonstrated
- ** The superior area of the lobe should be visible with the diaphragm and a small portion of the thorax in the FOC**
- If you cut off the tip of the liver you do not need to take another picture
What should be seen in the sagittal right lobe liver - Right portal vein image ?
- Right portal vein, main lobar fissure and possibly the gallbladder as reference
- The diaphragm should be identified at the superior area with the pleural space
What does the sagittal right lobe liver with right kidney compare?
The parenchymal echogenicity of the right lobe to the right kidney cortex
What should we focus on when getting the sagittal right lobe of liver with right kidney image?
Focus on imaging the inferior liver not the kidney
The diaphragm should be demonstrated superiorly with the pleural space
What does the sag right liver- lateral demonstrate?
The lateral aspect of the right lobe
**diaphragm, pleural space and rib shadow should be identified
Which three images can be labeled SAG right liver?
- SAG right liver- lateral
- Sag right lobe live with RK
- Sag right lobe live- at RPV
What can be identified on the trans left liver - lateral edge image?
Either the heart or stomach should be identified along the lateral left edge
What does the trans left liver- lateral edge image demonstrate?
The lateral margin of the left lobe
What does the trans liver at the confluence demonstrate?
Image demonstrates the superior portion of the liver
try to image the converging of the three hepatic veins into the IVC, although if you don’t get the right it’s fine because it is in another plane
What does the transverse liver at LPV/CL demonstrate?
The caudate lobe and the branching of the left portal vein
The IVC, aorta and spine are posterior landmarks
What three images are simply labeled Trans left liver?
- Trans left liver - lateral edge
- Trans live at confluence
- Trans liver at LPV/CL
What does the Trans right liver- Cephalad/Lateral demonstrate?
- The dome of the right lobe of liver and pleural space
- The right hepatic vein should be identified
