What is the definition of Sahih lighayrihi?
It is that hasan lithatihi when it is narrated with another chain similar to it and has the same strength or stronger than a hasan lithatihi.
Because the authenticity has not come from the first sanad and its come by joining another sanad to it. (1 sahih lighayrihi=2 hasan lithatihi).
What is the rank of a Sahih lighayrihi hadith?
Higher rank than a hasan lithatihi.
Lower rank than a sahih lithatihi.
What is the example of a Sahih lighayrihi hadith znd what does Ibn Salah (r.h) say?
Hadith about siwak narrated by Abu Hurayra (r.h).
Ibn Salah (r.h) says ‘The narrator is from amongst the known narrators to be truthful and preserving. But he is not from amongst the people of accuracy, to the extent some people have classified him as a weak narrator due to his side of weak memory.
Some people have given him the title of trustworthy due to his truthfulness and his honour so this hadith, looking at it from this angle is a hasan hadith.
When with that sanad, different sorts of sanads are being joined, then that deficiency is removed which we were fearing with Muhammad ibn Amr (r.h)’s weak memory.
So that small deficiency has been restored.
And that sanad has become and has reached the ranks of sahih.
