- like adjecties, participles agree with the noun they qualify in gender, case and number
- like verbs, participles have a tense and may have an object

A
- standard verbs / active voice: like πας / πασα / παν (παντος)
- present participle - λυων / λυουσα / λυον (λυοντος)
- aorist participle - λυσας / λυσασα / λυσαν (λυοσαντος)
- deponent verbs / middle voice: like ἀγαθος / ἀγαθη / ἀγαθον
- present participle - ῥυομενος / ῥυομενη / ῥυομενον
- aorist participle - ῥυσαμενος / ῥυσαμενη / ῥυσαμενον

use of participles with indicatives, infinitives and imperatives
A
- avoiding double indicative
(e. g. εἰσελθων εἰπεν… - he entered and spoke) - avoiding double infinitive
(e. g. οὐκ εἰμι ἱκανος κυψας λυσαι… - I am not worthy to stoop down and untie) - avoiding double imperative
(e. g. πορευθεντες ουν μαθητευσατε… - Go, therefore, and make disciples…)
