  • Decrease dependency on foreign oil + gas
  • Revenue from oil sales to lead to drop in price = economic boom

  • Could be decades before oil leaves the wells - ANWR will have no immediate impact on resource security
  • Female polar bears may abandon dens
  • Doesn’t encourage move to renewable fuel to reduce emissions.
