-people rushed to take money out of banks causing banks to crash because they don’t have people’s money on hand and people don’t have money in the banks

-okkies- people from oklahoma who lost everything
-banks called for mortgages but OK can’t pay for it and lose farms
-central park becomes a shanty village

isolationism

A

-1930s was a period of greatest support for isolationism
-Knew treaty from ww1 wasn’t going to end well so stayed out of Europe
-wanted to solve depression at home rather than go to war
-stayed out of militaristic risings of Hitler and Mussolini and Japan
-Germany had been hit the hardest and had debts to pay and Mussolini was a fascist gaining power
-a lot of people though getting involved in ww1 was a mistake because it was a fight for democracy that wasn’t won, pointless
