-most of the slaves in the south
-northern colonies don’t like slaves because they are expensive, could die, and intentured servants were cheaper

-try to get to Spanish, Fl where they are offered freedom
-get stopped by militia and killed
-harsher treatment
-slaves slow down work, break tools, and light fields on fire
