Rare, genetic CT disease, multiple & recurrent fractures. Commonly affects long bones & skull- Dx during childhood

Blue sclare, thin skin, hyperextensability, otosclerosis with hearing loss,

Bisphosphonates
Charcot joint- Eti
Joint destruction with loss of propriocepton, pain due to diabetic neuropathy and other diseases
Charcot joint- Sx
Enlarged, boggy, painless joint with cartilage erosion, osteophyte formation and loose joint bodies
Charcot joint- Dx
Osteolysis, subluxation on X-ray,
Charcot joint- Tx
Tx primary disease
Avascular necrosis- Eti
Complication of steroids, trauma, pancriatits, alcoholism, gout, sickle cell leading to joint dysfunction
Avascular necrosis- Sx
Proximal and distal femoral heads, ankle, shoulder and elbow, hip or knee pain
Avascular necrosis- Dx
MRI, CT or Bone scan
Avascular necrosis- Tx
Avoid weight bearing on affected joint
